Since you re on OS X 10.10, you should be printing to QTR from Roy s Print Tool, rather than directly from PS. Since 10.6.8 there are colour management issues

I found that the 21 steps wedge is much easier to work with than the 51 steps one. And the resulting curve is just as smooth. Give it a shot. Walter

What you are describing is most likely microbanding. It is a QTR artifact. To avoid, you must have about 1 in. on each end of your print that is blank. HFL
