Once you remove the circuit board, there are not any electronics where the buttons are on the hinge cover. Just plastic! Would not hurt to wear a grounding

You´ll really need a DiscDrive. AFAIK the OS in the VFX contains no routines to send the OS out the MIDI bus, or save it to a disk.
