Tim, You did not mention where you live (US?) and where this machine comes from. From earlier posts I understand that in the early days the floppy drives were mains-frequency dependent. This means if you live in Europe, you had 50 Hz drives and for the US and Canada you had 60 Hz

Well, I found a stumbling block with this Series I... When trying to boot the machine, neither floppy drive is working. The drives in this machine are both Qume drives - a DT/8 and an 842. The PCBs on the drives look to be identical. Looking at the drive PCBs, it looks as though

Hi, Try to stretch to a Series3 running Rev. 9.34. This is a 16 bit machine rather than the old 8 bit and is terrific! 100kHz sampling, bigger memory more features, etc. etc. etc.... The IIx is nice though. Warm samples (although limited by length and bandwidth). 8" floppies are

Hi James You should be able to assign the IIx and the III on different midi channels and use them from a master keyboard. You don't need a switching box. I sequence mine all the time with my MPC2000xl and master keyboard as its much easier for me with the setup I have. regards Co

My 2c worth: In the end, digital signals on a tape are, in fact, sounds. As is the case with old analog recordings, there may be a case of print through with these digital recordings, causing the signal to be garbled. Interested reading: http://www.aes.org/aeshc/docs/3mtape/print
