As has been mentioned numeroust times on this list (and this is a message to EVERYBODY) do NOT use any CMOS chips with part numbers starting with "74xx4" in any CGS design unless that part number is specifically given. CGS designs usually run the CMOS chips from 15 volts. 74xx4xx

I ordered a Burst Generator and Sub-Oscillator from Elby and they shipped with Fairchild 4017's. Neither of them worked so I bought a couple of Philips 74HC4017N's and some ST 4017's. The ST's worked fine, however the Philips overheat in both circuits. So avoid Fairchild and Phil
