1. Both Emax I and Emax II OS do actually contain code to receive transfer of the 8 bit, compressed Emax I banks from an external device using 500k baud RS422.

This could also be a shorted out pathway. I had this issue and used emery cloth to sand down the insulator over the pathway, cleaned the pathway and sealed it.

I think it was mostly bugs fixes between 2.7 and 2.8. If I m remember correctly, 2.5 was the last version with sampler support and would only run with a Nubus
