hd needs to be on scsi id 0 for booting from as its the same for the emax1 as we have also done the same but when you switch of the machine the machine does

IC 9 has a chip where an Emax 2 is MONO. IC 10 has a chip where an Emax 2 is STEREO. You would never have BOTH IC9 and IC10 locations filled at the same time.

Yes you need to boot from scsi 0 (or internal Hard Drive) to not use the floppy for the OS. I have a scsi external card reader set to ID zero and that works

you need the plus os then you can set the drive for scsi id 5 which is what the external zip termination is set to then you will be able to load os from it

every time apple changed the os it made it harder for things to work when they went to os8 the midi stuff got messed with so digidesign did not see it nesseray
