CGS48 VCO aternative parts

Some of the parts for the CGS48 VCO can be a bit hard to locate in the uk, particularly the n channel Jfet. Alternatives that work are 2N5486 and J112, both available from Farnell. Also, SSM2210 transistor array works in place of LM394, just cut off pins 4 & 5 and it slots straig

I had the same issue, with CGS35 and fracrack because they are so dissimilar in size/shape. I ended up putting the long/skinny board on perf and mounting the perf to the fracrack. I have some other mods as well but the basic idea is here: http://www.charlielamm.com/synth/steiner/

Since pots are variable anyway, the value can often be substituted with little impact on the circuit. You can often substitute a 47K or 50K pot for a 100K pot and vice versa. I expect that in most CGS modules a 47K pot will work where a 100K is shown, and in most Blacet modules a

Ken's PC board designs give the builder many choices for panel designs, and this includes deciding what pots and switches you want to put on the panel. Sometimes you will see optional pots on a hookup diagram that are not shown on the schematic. There was a discussion here about
