Get a Hammerfall Multiface if you re mostly concerned about latency. It has the lowest with the highest DSP push.

You have to burn the AKAI image separately on a new CD. I have used CD-COPY for Mac to do this sort of thing.

You need to check the box for the newer MIDI engine in the MIDI settings. This was a problem when the EXS first came out. They solved in later build of Logic,
