We talk about the samples of the fairlight but I find discussions about the additive synthesis side to be much more seldom. 1. Can some one post some examples of the a-synthesis capablities of the fairlight? 2. Can some one tell us whether the additive synthesis was 8 bit as well

Hello Peter, To me, the MIDI interface was an option on the CMI IIx. The main difference between the Fairlight II and the IIx was the 6809 CPU replacing the 6800. More infos there : -> http://members.tripod.com/kmi9000/kmi_cmi_hard.htm#hardware Hope it helps. Laurent.

Almost ten years ago I bought the Heavenly Music Fairlight CD-ROM. I guess it's the same as the Pro Rec Sample Disc. But instead all the samples are present in Wave format and in SF2 format. IMHO, it might have been better if they didn't record the samples with the anti aliasing

For those looking for a CMI IIx: listed on eBay item number: 190073211691 Not mint, and needs some work, but they are pretty rare these days, so if you want one, this is a chance. Personally I think the IIx is THE most beautifull of the Fairlights. (Please don't shoot me......) G

OK, according to that manual published in January 1985, the "Strings 3" disk is missing, replaced by a disk called "TremStr" on the Pro Rec CD. That might explain the missing Jarre string sound I mentioned.It's the only difference I could see on first reading. Does anyone have th

Wondering if anyone wants to get rid of their Pro-Rec Fairlight Disc. I asked about a year ago and I thought I would ask again. Trying to see if I avoid paying $39 for a new one. I'm finally getting my mirage and I look forward to bumming samples off the disc into the mirage.
