Might want to open it up and make sure all the connectors are seated properly. Sometimes they get lose in shipping and that can cause problems. rEalm

From what we can read on this very list or on various forums over the internet, it seems there s a batch of Command Stations that shipped with a fragile PSU.

You just need MIDI to update the OS, not USB. Did you try to install the latest JRE, v1.5 AFAIK? It s included in the last XP Autopatcher release.
