I concur- when the 1000 starts from scratch- the pitch bend goes out of the normal range - and figures appear in the LCD that are not part of the usual set.

you might of actualy realigned the heads as if they were giving errors before you serviced it that might be the reason why the disks dont read know becuase

sound like you miss alligned the heads to before so it wont read disks produced on the michine prior to it being surviced and to get them to align properly you

No, the CZ will not have an output without the relay. However, if you really know what you are doing, you can bypass the relay circuit by removing the relay

I think you have a relay going bad. There is a relay that keeps the audio output shut off while the CZ is powering on so as to prevent power supply surges

I am not sure whether the VZ suffers from the handshaking problem that old Casio s have - that is they need an OK from a PC before sending and picking up data.

sounds like a dry joint just reflow the solder on the pins of the regulator first and see if the clicking stops if not then the regulator is on its way out
