It is over 6MP Michael, but the chip size is the same as the D30 and the multiplier is still 1.6. Smaller pixels, but the images still look pretty clean.

Dots are smaller with the 1280, tones are smoother. (Glows reproduce much better on the 1280 than they do on the 1160. The 1160 seems to be a TINY bit sharper.
